KeyAccess for PC


INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

In order for this software to function you must have a KeyServer account. If you need an account, go the the Request an Account page.

We recommend you print these installation instructions so that you may refer to them during the installation process.

 

Part A: Downloading KeyAccess

  1. Click on the "Download" link above.
  2. Choose to save the program to disk at the "File Download" window,
    -     A "Save As..." window should appear.
  3. Leave the file name unchanged, but change the directory to the Desktop so the installed program will be easier to find later.
    - Along the top of the "Save As..." window there should be a button with a triangle pointing downward, click it. A box with a list of directories should drop down. Click on the item labeled "Desktop." You may have to use the scroll bar to scroll upwards. "Desktop" will be the item at the top of the list.
    -The top of the "Save As..." box should now say "Save in: Desktop"
  4. Click "Save."
    - The file should start to download.
  5. You are now finished downloading the installer.


Part B: To begin the installation

  1. Close any open windows so that you can see your Desktop.
  2. You should see a "KSClient.exe" icon on your Desktop. Double-click on that icon.
  3. Choose the destination directory:
    - We recommend the default location: C:\Program Files\KeyServer 5.2\Client
    - Click "Next."
  4. Setup should copy the necessary files to your computer.
  5. An options window called "Client Network Connection" appears next.
  6. Choose:
    -Use TCP/IP Winsock
    -Use Windows Logon Name
  7. The name under "Enter the KeyServer's name or address" should read: "keysrv01.calpoly.edu"
  8. Click "Continue."
  9. The KeyServer Client is now installed.
  10. Click "Close."
  11. Restart your computer.
  12. From now on, KeyAccess will start automatically whenever you turn on your computer.
